Parent Equip Night
Being a parent is both an amazing privilege and a weighty responsibility. As followers of Christ, we must understand and obey this tremendous call of God to be a disciple-making parent.
In his book, The Disciple-Making Parent, Chap Bettis writes, "In allowing us to raise another human being, God has gifted us with an awe-inspiring privilege and responsibility. Your child is an image-bearer of God. He or she is made to glorify God and enjoy an eternity with Jesus Christ. Your child is a person who will live forever in heaven or hell.”
As parents, those words should encourage and sober us. We should be led to ask with Paul in 2 Corinthians 2:16, “Who is sufficient for these things?” The task of parenting is, so often, exhausting, overwhelming, and confusing. However, we must not lose hope. For indeed, Paul said later in 2 Corinthians 3:5, “our sufficiency is from God.” May we take hope, as followers of Christ, that we are not alone. God equips and empowers us for what He has called us to.
If you are a parent of children from Preschool through Middle School, we encourage you to join Pastor Jeff and our Family Ministry Staff for a Parent Equip Night, as we begin to explore ways that we can partner together in the discipleship of our children. The primary discussion for the evening will be on how to utilize the Gospel Project material in your home.
This event is on Friday, July 28th, and will be located at The Porch. Childcare and dinner for Preschool through Middle School will be provided in the Kids Building. Kids Check-In will be open at 6:10pm. Dinner will be served for adults at 6:30pm at The Porch.
To register for the free event go to parkwoodonline.org/parentequip.
We pray this evening will be a fruitful time in the life of many families at Parkwood.
