Stir One Another Up
Over the past 7 weeks, we have had the unique opportunity to grow together as a body of believers while our Lead Pastor takes some time to intentionally study and be further developed to equip the saints for the work of ministry. We have been honored to be reminded of the foundational truths of the gospel by Dr. Jim Shaddix in sermons and Growth Groups. This has been a time of growth for our pastoral staff and elders in leadership and wisdom. We commissioned 31 new members into the life of the body here at Parkwood this past Sunday. There have been and are many things to celebrate including Pastor Jeff’s return on Sunday, November 5.
As Pastor Ben led the congregation to pray for the new members on Sunday, he read Hebrews 10:24-25, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
As we continue in this season, let God’s Word challenge us to be faithful and consistent in attendance of worship services. As a body of believers, we are to join together each week as we are able for corporate worship to glorify God together through singing, praying, and hearing the Word of God preached.
Also, let God’s Word challenge us to remain faithful and consistent in our giving. We read in 1 Timothy 6:18-19, “They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”
The video above celebrates what God has done through your generosity from October 2016 - September 2017 and outlines some exciting things for the year ahead. One thing to note is that our weekly need will increase from $71,532 to $74,830. We request prayer for God’s provision through you for that.
The purpose of this letter is to do what the author of Hebrews instructs us to do - to stir one another up to obedience. Be reminded and encouraged to faithfully attend worship and to give your tithes and offerings all for the glory of God and the growth of His Kingdom.
